### Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Certified

![](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Shannon-Head-Shot-3.jpg)

I am a dedicated therapist who believes all people have an innate capacity for healing. I provide [therapy](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/psychiatric-care/mental-health-counseling-and-therapy/) services at our [Olney, MD](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/wp-content/uploads/wp-mfa-exports/location/olney-md.md) clinic.

Having navigated the joys and challenges of family life as a mother, I bring that resilience to support clients through life’s changes. I specialize in traditional talk therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and Brainspotting, helping clients find peace, strength and clarity. I honor each client’s unique story with tailored, trauma-focused care. I continuously seek training for my own growth, so I can help others grow. I’d love to hear from you to see how I can support your journey.

I specialize in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, a gentle, non-pathologizing, evidence-based approach that helps you understand and harmonize the different ‘parts’ of yourself– the ones that feel hurt, protective, conflicted or even hopeless.

I provide a safe, collaborative space where no part is judged or forced to change. If even a small part of you is curious or feeling stuck, anger, sad, anxious, or hopeless, we can explore together to find healing and deeper self understanding.
