Channavajjala Prasad, MD, PhD is an experienced psychiatrist in clinical practice. He has extensive experience in Hospital Care, Crisis care, Emergency psychiatric evaluation and outpatient clinical care. Dr. Prasad had his Psychiatry residency training at the St. Elizabeths Hospital Washington, DC for four years. Afterwards, Dr. Prasad was trained at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, NY in Neurology for one year.
Dr. Prasad worked at the St. Elizabeths Hospital as a staff psychiatrist in various capacities. He has had hospital admitting privileges in various area hospitals. Dr. Prasad also worked extensively in correctional facilities in Washington, DC and in Arlington. Dr. Prasad is fluent in English, Spanish and several Indian languages including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Marathi and Gujrati.
Dr. Prasad is a board-certified Psychiatrist by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (DABPN) and in Addiction Medicine. Dr. Prasad is a Fellow in American College of Physicians (FACP), a Distinguished Life Fellow of American Psychiatric Association (DLFAPA), Distinguished Fellow of American Society of Addiction Medicine (DFASAM), diplomate of American Board of addiction Medicine (DABAM), also Certified by the International Association of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Prasad has many publications; was on the teaching faculty in the area university hospitals involved in teaching medical students/residents. Dr. Prasad received several Honors and recognitions for his work in the field of clinical psychiatry for the past several years.
