Advanced Practitioner, Arlington, VA
Teras G. Flowers is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who is passionate about decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health—one family at a time.
She obtained a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Howard University in 2014. That same year, she began working at one of the busiest hospitals in the DMV area, Washington Hospital Center, and began a career where she was able to cultivate her educational knowledge with experience in a variety of medical-surgical units across the hospital. Her primary area of focus and responsibilities, however, was in the psychiatric medical-surgical unit, where most clients have a combination of urgent medical and psychiatric needs. She gained firsthand insight into the interconnectedness between physical and mental well-being. She was mentored by some of the top psychiatrists in the area. Teras went on to earn her Master of Science in nursing from Walden University, graduating in 2020. Teras treats adults with general psychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
Outside psychiatry, Teras loves spending time with her family, traveling, experiencing the culinary world, and interior design and architecture.
