Alejandra Carrera, LMSW

My name is Alejandra Carrera and I am a provider at our Arlington clinic who provides therapy services in-person and via telehealth. I graduated with a Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and am currently a Licensed Master’s Social Worker. I am also a mother of two young children and love to travel.

Life transitions can be a lot of weight to carry on our own and can lead to disruptions in our daily lives. The goal of our work together is to work together on how to help carry the weight and learn to manage and cope with change.

In the last 16 years I have worked as a Case Manager for families experiencing homelessness; and in that setting I have experience with families who are fleeing from domestic violence, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, bipolar, adhd, developmental disabilities and trauma. I am also experienced with working with mothers who are experiencing post-partum depression and am passionate in working with couples navigating fertility treatment or have had infant loss. In working with families, I have been given the opportunity to utilize my clinical background and experience to help individuals develop goals, coping strategies, and action steps towards their progress. Our work together comes from a judgement free zone; culturally competent and trauma-informed lenses. I tell all my clients you are the expert of your life and I am the map for part of this journey. I utilize CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, solutions-focused therapy and any other clinical approaches that would be helpful in our work.
