### Associate Social Worker

Hi, I’m Audrey Monserrate and I provide [therapy](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/psychiatric-care/mental-health-counseling-and-therapy/) services at our [Gaithersburg, MD](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/wp-content/uploads/wp-mfa-exports/location/gaithersburg-md.md) clinic.

I have a Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University! I have experience as a school social worker and enjoyed working with kids and families using a strengths-based approach. I look forward to connecting with people and learning about the diverse life experiences that everyone has to offer. Using a client-centered approach, I aim to ease the stress that comes with navigating mental health challenges throughout the lifespan.

Together, we’ll create a safe space to process feelings, working at the client’s pace and respecting all boundaries. I love incorporating expressive arts within my sessions and enjoy seeing clients’ creativity when building coping skills. I enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ and Latinx populations, and understand how intersecting identities impacts people’s lives.

I recognize that coming to therapy can be scary, so I employ patience and understanding with my clients so that you feel safe and comfortable during sessions. While everyone’s healing journey looks different, I am here to support, uplift, and cheer you on while you accomplish your goals.
