Deana Johnson, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I am a clinician at our Towson clinic who provides therapy services!

The ideal client is a woman who feels emotionally exhausted and often overlooked. She may be battling anxiety, depression, unresolved childhood trauma, or the lingering effects of emotional neglect. Or she may have survived difficult relationships—romantic or familial—that left her doubting her worth.

My role is to provide a safe, compassionate space where the client don’t have to minimize her pain or hold everything together. I specialize in working with women navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and identity loss, particularly those raised in environments where their emotional needs weren’t met.

I would primarily use a trauma-informed approach rooted in CBT to help her recognize how her thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we would work to identify and challenge distorted thinking patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and build a stronger sense of self.

My goal is to help the client work to reclaim her worth, and begin living a life that feels grounded and intentional.

I am a seasoned professional that has dedicated my career to advocating for improved mental health treatment and supporting individuals on their journey to better mental health. My extensive experience and compassionate approach have helped countless clients achieve their wellness goals and improve their quality of life.

With over 15 years in the field, I have worked across diverse settings—from psychiatric emergency departments to private practice—bringing a deep understanding of trauma, emotional neglect, anxiety and depression. I am particularly passionate about helping women who often feel emotionally unseen or stretched too thin, guiding them toward healing with honesty, empathy, and evidence-based strategies.

I use a range of therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness-based interventions. These approaches allow me to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs, focusing on emotional regulation, boundary-setting and cognitive restructuring.
