Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
I am a clinician at our Bowie clinic who provides therapy services!
My ideal client is someone navigating life transitions who is experiencing anxiety and depressive symptoms. They’re looking for direction and coping skills to manage spiraling thoughts and life stressors. Their main goals are to gain clarity, discover their purpose, and learn to independently manage stress and anxiety using effective coping strategies.
I can help by working collaboratively with clients to identify their current stressors, utilizing an existential and holistic approach to explore deeper meanings and connections. Together, we will also identify their existing strengths to empower them in navigating difficult times. Furthermore, I will provide practical tools such as worksheets and questionnaires to support their continued practice of coping skills independently, fostering lasting resilience.
I build empathy by prioritizing the creation of a safe and non-judgmental space, where clients feel completely comfortable expressing their true selves. My ultimate goal as a therapist is to facilitate a deeper understanding of themselves, allowing them to explore their inner world with genuine curiosity and without reservation.
Beyond creating a safe space, I actively cultivate empathy through active listening, which involves fully attending to both verbal and non-verbal cues and asking open-ended questions to encourage deeper exploration. I also practice emotional validation, acknowledging and affirming clients’ feelings to let them know their emotions are valid and understandable. Furthermore, I consistently seek feedback from clients and supervisors to continuously refine my empathic skills and ensure I am meeting their needs effectively.
