### Resident in Counseling

![](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/20250702-swood-21-edited.jpg)

I’m Kiyaijzia, a clinician at our [Woodbridge, VA](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/wp-content/uploads/wp-mfa-exports/location/woodbridge-va.md) clinic who provides [therapy](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/psychiatric-care/mental-health-counseling-and-therapy/) services!

I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, emotional dysregulation, life transitions, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationships challenges. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths-based, grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive care. I often integrate expressive and somatic techniques to help clients explore their inner world and find language for experiences that may feel difficult to express.

I help clients build emotional awareness, strengthen self-compassion, and develop coping tools. I’m especially passionate about supporting people through transitions, identity exploration, and healing from relational wounds. Together, we work toward creating sustainable change empowering you to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

Therapy is a courageous step toward understanding yourself and your story, and I deeply value the trust it takes to begin that process. My goal is to ensure you feel seen, understood, and supported every step of the way. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
