Licensed Professional Counselor
My name is Matthew, and I offer individual, couples, and family therapy, for transition-aged youth and adults at our Greenbelt, MD clinic.
My theoretical orientation leans humanistic, which simply means that I take a holistic approach to client care and offer clients a nonjudgmental environment that promotes healthy, honest self-exploration. I work with clients who experience a range of issues that adversely affect their mental health, including grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. My clients also have a range of diagnoses including major depressive disorder, ADHD, general anxiety disorder, borderline personality disorder, and PTSD.
My clients can expect a balance of challenge and support that is consistently infused with empathy and compassion. In therapy we could explore identity and trauma, developing effective coping and communication skills, boundaries, confronting negative thoughts and how they can impact feelings and behaviors, and the deep and turbulent waters of grief.
People come to counseling often experiencing something that feels insurmountable. My job as a therapist is not to tell you what to do; rather, I will work collaboratively with you and empower you to develop the tools, skills, and understanding you need to enact sustainable change in your life. So if you’re ready for the journey, I’m ready to work with you!
