Psychiatrist

Hello, I’m Matt Salmon. I provider [psychiatric](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/psychiatric-care/psychiatry-and-medication/) services at our [Falls Church, VA](https://www.columbiapsychiatry-dc.com/wp-content/uploads/wp-mfa-exports/location/falls-church-va.md) clinic!

I am a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist with experience in school, outpatient, and community settings. My work blends medical expertise with a deeply human approach, drawing on narrative psychiatry, trauma-informed care, and a strengths-based, person-centered lens. I specialize in supporting people of all identities and abilities, including those navigating complex trauma and systemic oppression. My goal is to create a safe, affirming space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered as we work together toward healing, resilience, and growth.

I specialize in trauma-focused, justice-oriented, and equitable care for youth and their families, and young adults. With special interest in LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and marginalized experiences, I support clients in exploring their stories, building resilience, and finding meaning. Together, we create a safe, affirming space for growth and healing.

Navigating life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face them alone. Our sessions will be judgment-free and totally collaborative. I meet each person with compassion, respect, and openness, honoring you wherever you are in your journey. I look forward to partnering with you to create space for healing, growth, and possibility.
