Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Washington D.C. and Virginia, providing therapy services at our Alexandria, VA clinic. My approach to therapy is always person-centered and focused on finding ways to cope with challenges, identifying strategies that work best for the individual, and ultimately finding a lasting solution to your challenges. I typically work with teens and young adults experiencing depression and/or anxiety. These are the conditions I am most comfortable treating; however, I have been able to work successfully with clients who have been diagnosed with Post Trauma Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, and Oppositional Defiance Disorder.

The most common theoretical approaches I use in my work are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma systems therapy (TST). I believe there is no one way to utilize therapeutic approaches, but that time has to be taken to get to know your client to see which intervention can be useful.

I strive to create an environment that is judgment-free, trusting, and open-minded. I believe it is important to understand who a person is on the inside in order to understand their thoughts and decisions. In order to understand my clients, it is necessary to learn about their upbringing, experiences, beliefs, value systems, and fears.
