Social Worker

Hello, my name is Shamima. I provide therapy services at our Aldie, VA clinic.

I’m a social work professional with 20+ years of experience supporting individuals and families through a wide range of life challenges. My primary experience is with adults and older adults, while working with people across the lifespan. I specialize in supporting older adults experiencing grief, loss, end-of-life concerns, death and dying, life transitions, and social isolation. I have extensive experience supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, complex life challenges, and trauma, including sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape, and other traumatic experiences.

My clinical approach incorporates evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and tailored to each clt’s needs, helping them develop practical tools to manage emotions, cope with challenges, strengthen relationships, & move forward.

I provide a compassionate, culturally sensitive, judgment-free space where clients feel heard, respected, & supported through grief, trauma, life transitions, & MH challenges. I have experience with the South Asian community & speak Bangla, Urdu, Hindi. I believe seeking support is a sign of strength & I am honored to support clients toward healing process.
