Licensed Master of Social Work
My ideal client is someone who is willing to think outside the box and engage with a variety of creative approaches to build a toolkit of coping skills. I want to empower my clients to reach their goals and help them to feel capable of, and even excited about, putting in the work to get where they want to go. I am interested in what makes my clients uniquely themselves and am adept at utilizing their talents and interests to tailor my work to each person’s specific needs. Many of my clients in the past have struggled with anxiety, depression, or both; it’s easy for me to empathize, since these are issues that I have worked through in my own life, and I believe this experience allows me to help clients feel supported and understood. I have also worked with neurodiverse populations and am well-versed in finding creative solutions to issues with executive function.
I work primarily with children and adolescents, and I enjoy connecting with young people. Accordingly, I believe that therapy should be fun and that laughter is the best medicine. I also believe that artistic expression can be deeply healing, and I bring a creative approach to therapy, informed by my own background in the arts. I find my work extremely rewarding and feel privileged to be able to build relationships with my clients. I care deeply about every single one of the people I work with and am
honored by their trust in me. I want to ensure that anyone who spends time in the counseling room with me feels understood and accepted.
I was born and raised in the D.C. area and have strong ties to the region. I have had many different jobs before settling on therapy as a profession. My undergraduate degree is in art history, and I have worked in museums, as an appraiser for art and antiques, as an art teacher, and even, at one point, as a professional knitter. Being a therapist is by far my favorite job I have ever had. Outside of work, I enjoy doing various arts and crafts, hiking, spending time with my family, and trying to keep my two energetic Siamese cats out of trouble. I believe that it takes a lot of strength to pursue therapy, and I would love to be a support to anyone who is struggling to navigate the challenges that life brings.
