Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
I am Kathryn Wilderotter, LCSW-C, CTRP-C, a trauma therapist at our OIney, MD clinic, with an empowerment-based approach to healing, grounded in the belief that each person carries deep inner wisdom. My clinical focus centers on issues of power and control, and how these dynamics—often shaped by trauma, relationships, and social systems—impact a person’s sense of safety, self-trust, and agency.
I approach therapy as a collaborative partnership. I work alongside clients to help them reconnect with their authentic voice, strengthen boundaries, and move toward greater authenticity in their lives and relationships, in ways that feel aligned with their values.
I support clients in reclaiming choice, cultivating self-compassion, & trusting their inner wisdom. Healing occurs when people honor who they are & feel empowered to live with clarity, autonomy, & connection. I am committed to providing therapy that is anti-racist, culturally responsive, & mindful of the impact of systemic oppression & bias on mental health.
Psychotherapy works best when the relationship between client and therapist is grounded in unconditional positive regard, empathy, trust, and authenticity. While there are no quick fixes, this work—though often challenging—can be deeply rewarding. I look forward to taking this journey with you.
