I am the Clinic Director at our Annapolis clinic who also provides therapy services!

My ideal client is someone who can overcome their defense mechanisms, is motivated to change, and is aware that the changes may occur in small steps rather than all at once. The client would have supportive family and/or friends, would be assertive with their needs, and flexible enough to try new treatment methods. Their issues, needs, and goals are secondary to the above listed ideal traits.

My overall specialty is helping clients of all ages who have experienced trauma. I am adept at play therapy for children to address their trauma at their developmental level. Clients who have experienced trauma often have low self-esteem, maladaptive coping skills, guilt, and negative beliefs about their role in the trauma. I offer the client a safe, non-judgmental place to express their fears and beliefs in the hopes of challenging and enabling them to provide themselves a new narrative around their trauma.

I have been licensed and providing mental health services for almost thirty years, having worked in many different settings and counseled diverse clients of all ages, races, culture, and sexual orientation. I have also been in a supervisory role with both graduate level social workers and counselors for 10 years and a Clinical Director for 7 years. I use a team approach, collaborating with family members, other providers, and fellow staff, as approved by the client. Specializing in treating clients with trauma background, anxiety, and those on the autism spectrum, I have a philosophy of support and encouragement and understands that a person’s experience is unique and multi-layered.
