Sofia Shahid, LPC-R

Licensed Professional Counselor – Registered

I am a clinician at our Fairfax clinic who provides therapy services!

My ideal client is someone who is struggling with anxiety and depression, often feeling overwhelmed and lacking motivation to move forward in their life. They need support in developing coping skills to manage their emotions and navigate daily challenges, as well as guidance to help them stay motivated and resilient. Their goal is to build a stable and fulfilling life despite their mental health struggles, but they often feel uncertain about how to achieve this due to their emotional state. What they truly want is a compassionate listener who will help them process their feelings and offer empathetic support, rather than someone who simply gives them answers or dismisses their emotions. They are seeking understanding and a safe space where they can be heard and validated, which will empower them to take meaningful steps toward healing, regain hope, and feel more in control of their life.

To help my ideal client with their anxiety and depression, I would draw on a range of interventions tailored to their needs. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I would help them identify and challenge negative thought patterns, promoting healthier thinking to improve mood and motivation. Mindfulness and grounding techniques would be introduced to help them manage overwhelming emotions and stay present. Through Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), I would create a safe space for them to process their emotions, fostering emotional insight and healing. Behavioral Activation would help them re-engage with meaningful activities, breaking the cycle of withdrawal that depression often causes. Additionally, Person-Centered Therapy would allow me to offer a non-judgmental, empathetic environment where they feel heard and understood, building trust and supporting their emotional growth. Stress management techniques, such as time management and relaxation exercises, would help them regain control over their life and reduce feelings of overwhelm. Lastly, through supportive therapy and validation, I would ensure they feel truly listened to and not alone in their struggles, encouraging self-compassion and resilience.

I want my patients to know that I genuinely care about their mental health journey and am deeply compassionate about supporting them every step of the way. I am committed to meeting their unique needs and walking alongside them, offering a safe, empathetic space where they can feel heard, understood, and valued. Whether they’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or other challenges, I am here to provide the support, tools, and encouragement they need to heal and move forward at their own pace. If you’re looking for someone who listens without judgment and truly cares about your well-being.
