Whitney Brown, LMSW

Whitney Brown is a Licensed Master Social Worker at our Aldie clinic who provides therapy services in-person and via telehealth. She works to empower and equip clients to make the best decisions for their lives with a clear understanding of how to achieve them. She understands that the concept of therapy can feel overwhelming and unfamiliar for many people, and works in collaboration with clients throughout the entire therapy process. Empathic listening is a foundation of her practice, which includes truly listening to, and asking questions about clients’ lived experiences, enhancing the professional relationship and contributing to a meaningful therapeutic process.

Whitney, a native of Virginia, earned her B.S in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master of Social Work degree from SUNY Binghamton. She works primarily with adults, and has extensive experience and training working with adults with depression, anxiety, difficult life adjustments, grief & loss, relational conflict, and OCD.

Whitney has worked in a variety of diverse settings, including detention centers, inpatient substance abuse treatment, perinatal and postpartum therapy practice, as well as community based mental health clinics. Whitney’s range of population experience includes perinatal and postpartum birthing persons, the LGBTQIA+ community, formerly incarcerated persons, and the recovery community.

Whitney integrates diverse therapeutic techniques in helping clients work through mental health challenges, supporting them to progress closer to their goals of emotional, spiritual, and mental stability. Whitney includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other integrative therapies in her work, and provides the clinical support to aide clients in building their own personalized “tool box” of therapeutic skills and techniques. Her strength-based therapeutic style highlights and incorporates her clients’ already existing strengths, while teaching new skills and building on existing capabilities.
