Kasie M. Cassell has dedicated over 10 years of her career working to bring awareness and reduce the stigma around mental health. She is the founder of The Perinatal Project, a dynamic and innovative collaborative care program at CAP, designed to meet the neglected area of women’s mental health across the lifespan. Kasie specializes in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
She is a dual licensed and board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner (WHNP) and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). She completed her perinatal mental health certification (PMH-C) in 2020. She has been an NP since 2014 and a masters-prepared nurse since 2012. From 2004 to 2014, Kasie worked as a registered nurse (RN) in multiple areas of nursing, as well as pioneering and developing the transcranial magnetic stimulation program for the treatment of depression in our outpatient practice in 2011.
After graduating from Penn State University with her Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN), Kasie went on to join the United States Air Force, where she served for four years as an active duty RN and captain at the United States Air Force Academy. After separating from active duty, Kasie received her Master of Science in nursing (MSN) with a concentration in nursing education at George Mason University. She then continued her education, attending the University of Colorado Denver, where she received her women’s health nurse practitioner post-master’s certificate, and Drexel University, where she received her psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner post-master’s certificate. She is currently enrolled at Simmons University working towards her doctorate in nursing practice.
Kasie was recognized by The International Nurses Association as a Worldwide Leader in Healthcare and Top Nurse Practitioner in Virginia in 2016 and is an honored member of the Trademark Women of Distinction 2017.
